The report found that the market for carbon accounting software in the United States today is a relatively paltry $10 million or so, although it's expected to double annually over the coming years, said Paul Baier, vice president of consulting for Groom Energy. That may not sound very promising at first for the raft of carbon accounting software startups like CarbonFlow, Planet Metrics and CSRware looking to carbon cap-and-trade legislation now being debated in Congress to jump-start the market.
